Sore tadi, sekitar jam 16.00, tiba-tiba dia menangis sejadi-jadinya. Bukan menangis karena kesakitan; bukan karena dimarahi Yeng, mamahnya; bukan pula karena lapar karena belum makan. Dia menangis, karena kartu perpustakaannya ketlingsut. ’’Tadi, thik, tak taruh di sini, kok sekarang tau-tau endak ada?’’ ujar Haznan sesengguk-an sambil menunjuk tas ransel warna hijau pupus-nya yang bergambar kartun kodok dan Haznan tulisi ’Si Bolang’ dengan bolpoin.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt; &lt;br /&gt;Sekitar 15 menit “drama kartun“ itu berlangsung di Jakal KM 5 Gang Pangkur 1. Aku tanya pelan-pelan, di mana terakhir kali Haznan meletakkan kartu perpustakaan tersebut. ’’Ya di tas-ku ini,’’ kata Haznan masih menangis.’’Papah kan sudah memasukkan kartu itu di dosgrip (tempat pensil) Haznan? Kenapa dikeluarkan? Dan kenapa ditaruh di dalam tas?’’ tanyaku. ’’Biar cepet ngambilnya, hiks...’’ kata Haznan sambil nangis. Air matanya bercucuran, mbakyunya, Vattaya; Mamah Yeni dan Mbak Dani menyaksikan dengan tersenyum geli.&lt;br /&gt;’’Ya sudah, dicari yuk. Siapa tahu ada di sela-sela buku Haznan. Kalau nggak ketemu bilang sama Ms atau Mr untuk dibuatkan kartu baru ya,’’ bujukku. ’’Nggak mau. Kartu itu nggak boleh dihilangkan. Tapi sekarang hilang, gimana ini?’’ jawab Haznan sambil memperlihatkan body-language yang lucu banget, nangis sambil berjalan mondar-mandir kayak seterikaan. ’’Ya, ampun anakku, kamu kok masih kartun sih. Masih sebulan ini seneng-senengnya sekolah kelas 1 SD, semua perkataan gurunya diartikan secara letter lux alias apa adanya,’’ ucapku dalam hati.&lt;br /&gt;Sebentar saja aku bolak-balik buku tulis Haznan, ternyata kartu perpus itu terselip di antaranya. ’’Ini bukan?’’ tanyaku. ’’Iya. Kok bisa di situ ya? Mesti Mbak Dani yang mindah ke situ,’’ jawabnya. Walah, kok malah nuduh Mbak Dani sih? Selesai sudah hiburan sore hari itu dengan tawa ngakak bersama. Haznan harus ganti baju dan celana, karena basah terkena keringat, saking semangatnya dia menangis. Oalaaaahhh... Berangkat dari Jogja jam 06.00, sampai di sana jam 10.00. Selama perjalanan dari Jogja-Solo-Sragen-Ngawi-Padangan-Cepu (sekitar 200 km) Haznan tidak rewel sama sekali. Reza, sepupu Jakarta, berkali-kali sms menanyakan kami sudah sampai mana, maklum, bapakku adalah putra tertua di Keluarga (alm) H Dachlan. Bapak ditunggu karena acara HUT Ke-79 Mbah Ibu (Suwarni) sudah mau dimulai, undangan sekitar 200 orang tetangga Mbah Ibu sudah pada datang. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt; &lt;br /&gt;Begitu kami datang, disambut suka cita oleh adik-adiknya bapak, om-paklik dan tante-bulik. Setelah bapak dan aku diberi baju seragam batik, acara pun langsung dimulai. Pembawa acaranya Om Muchlis (Jakarta), pembaca Quran Bulik Ning (Samarinda), pembaca arti Quran Om Yudi (Jakarta), sambutan wakil keluarga H Achmad Shodiq Afandi (bapakku, Jogja) dan pemberi tausiah Om Ladiman (Jakarta). Acara diakhiri pemotongan tumpeng oleh Mbah Ibu diberikan berturut-turut kepada bapakku, Bulik Sus (Blora), Paklik Sahuri (Cepu), Bulik Ning dan Bulik Tatik (Jakarta). Suasana khidmat dan penuh tangis haru menghiasi acara tersebut. Mbah Ibu sengaja menyembelih seekor sapi untuk acara tersebut. ‘’Aku nabung sithik-sithik. Oleh sapi, njur tak nggo acara iki,’’ ungkap Mbah Ibu. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mbah Ibu adalah istri ‘sambung’ alias istri kedua Mbah Kakung H Dachlan. Bapakku adalah putra tertua dari istri pertama Mbah Kakung. Menurut penuturan bapak, ibu kandungnya meninggal saat bapak sedang bersekolah setara SMA di Kudus. Waktu itu, bapak dikabari ibunya wafat. Beberapa hari kemudian bapak pulang ke Bajo. Sesampai di rumah, bapak sudah ’mendapat’ ibu baru, yang jarak usianya lebih tua dari bapakku sekitar enam tahun. Karena sudah menjadi keputusan Mbah Kakung, bapak pun menerima ibu tirinya dengan lapang dada. Bahkan cintanya bapak sama Mbah Ibu sama saja seperti kepada ibu kandungnya sendiri. Mbah Ibu pun menyayangi bapakku seperti anak kandungnya sendiri. Sing kata, tidak membeda-bedakan. Sehingga sosok bapak menjadi ’pemersatu’ keluarga besar H Dachlan, kekompakan anak-anak H Dachlan tetap terjaga meskipun beda ibu. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kehadiranku di acara tersebut terasa istimewa sekali. Sebab, aku baru sadar, bahwa kunjungan terakhirku ke Bajo terjadi 1996, alias 13 tahun yang lalu. Aduh, sungguh tak terasa waktu berjalan cepat sekali. Kondisi Bajo sudah sangat berbeda. Jalan tanah masuk ke Bajo sudah diaspal halus, kediaman Mbah Ibu pun sudah disulap Om Ladiman menjadi kediaman yang sangat kokoh dengan kayu-kayu jatinya yang mendominasi. Beda dengan dulu saat terakhir aku datang. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ada kejadian menarik yang menurutku sangat istimewa. Salah seorang sepupuku, anaknya Paklik Sahuri, sudah selama 27 tahun hidup di Bangka, Sumatra, beranak pinak di sana, bahkan sudah memiliki cucu. Dia ternyata belum pernah melihat muka bapakku. ’’Pakde Shodiq, kulo putranipun Pak Sahuri. Dereng nate kepanggih Pakde Shodiq. Ya Alloh, sak meniko saget kepanggih, alhamdulillah,’’ ujarnya. Pemandangan yang sungguh membuat terharu. ’’Ternyata Pakde Shodiq persis banget karo wajahnya sama (alm) Mbah Kakung Dachlan,’’ ujarnya kepadaku. Semoga acara seperti ini semakin mempererat tali silaturahim keluarga besar H Dachlan yang memiliki 15 anak itu. Amin. Hari ketiga Haznan masuk kelas 1 SD Budi Mulia Dua diisi dengan kegiatan outbound di Kawasan Babarsari, Sleman, Jogjakarta. Saat pengarahan dari guru Haznan, disebutkan pula orang tua siswa wajib membawakan baju ganti pada hari ketiga tersebut. ‘’Karena bisa dipastikan siswa bajunya basah masuk ke sungai,’’ kata Ms Wida, guru pendamping Kelasnya Haznan, Arjuna. Weits… aku pun bilang Haznan untuk menunda masuk kelas. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;’’Kenapa tidak diizinkan masuk sekolah?’’ protes Haznan. ’’Iya, Haznan ndak usah masuk dulu. Soalnya, jahitan bekas operasi apendix Haznan masih belum kering 100 persen. Ntar kalau jahitannya nggak sempurna keringnya gimana?’’ tanyaku sembari memberikan alasanku kenapa melarangnya masuk sekolah. Akhirnya, pagi tadi yang berangkat sekolah hanya Vattaya diantar Yayi (sebutan kami buat eyang Gentan). Haznan pun melangkah ke luar rumah. Aku lihat dari kejauhan. Haznan jongkok di dekat kantong plastik ukuran 5 kg. Ternyata itu bungkus pupuk kompos yang dibeli Yeni. Haznan menjumput sedikit kompos dan ditabur-taburkan ke beberapa pot tanaman kami di Jakal KM 5, Gang Pangkur 1 Jogja. Kemudian dia siram tempat itu dengan sedikit air.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Haznan, mbak Dani, Yeni dan aku di rumah. Namun, sekitar jam 08.00 aku berangkat ke Jamsostek untuk mengurus klaim kesehatan perawatan operasi usus buntu haznan (26-30 Juni 2009) di RS Dr Sardjito Jogja. Dari total biaya RS yang kukeluarkan Jamsostek mengcover 39 persen-nya. Lumayan, bisa buat beli ban. Lho? Iya, ban Greco-ku, belakang kiri, kempes dan minta diganti, ukurannya 195-50-16. Aku tanyakan harganya Bima Jaya, Dagang Ban Mobil, Jalan Magelang 65B Jogja, telp 0274-561423-458406. Kemudian aku hubungi Mas Harjan untuk melakukan eksekusi penggantian ban yang dia sanggupi dilakukan Kamis (26/7/2009) pagi. ’’Nggih pak iwan, mangkeh kulo gantine ban mobile njenengan,’’ kata Mas Harjan, mekanik sebuah bengkel ternama di Jogja yang sudah menjadi bengkel pribadi kami dua tahun terakhir. Tadinya aku membayangkan Haznan sedang duduk sendirian, celingak celinguk mencari-cari orang yang dia kenal untuk membawanya pulang sekolah. Ternyata dia, anak lanangku yang baru dua hari ini menjadi siswa kelas 1 SD Budi Mulia Dua (BMD) Jogja, sudah menggandeng tangan Pak Uun, pria yang setiap hari mengantarkan pulang anak sulungku Vattaya.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dia yang memakai seragam sopir SD BMD, melihat kedatanganku di lantai dua gedung barat komplek Yayasan BMD Seturan tersebut. Langsung aku sambut tatapan Pak Uun dengan acungan jari telunjuk di bibir menandakan isyarat agar dia diam, biar Haznan tidak tahu kedatanganku. Aku mendekati Pak Uun yang tangannya digandeng Haznan tersebut, sambil berucap: ’’Haznan mau pulang bareng siapa? Papah atau Pak Uun?’’ (Kayaknya) Tanpa berpikir panjang, Haznan menjawab: ’’Sama Pak Uun aja aku pulangnya.’’ Fiuh... Jawaban itu yang aku mau. Berarti gampang saja ’’melepas’’ atau menyapih Haznan agar terbiasa diantar pulang Pak Uun. Salah satunya dilakukan para peneliti dari Pusat Studi Pangan dan Gizi (PSPG) UGM yang membuat ubi ganyong menjadi biskuit bayi.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;LAILA ROCHMATIN, Jogja&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ubi ganyong (canna edulis) yang mengandung protein dan mineral bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai makanan alternatif untuk mengatasi gizi buruk pada balita. Salah seorang peneliti yang sekaligus Ketua PSPG UGM Dr Ir Eni Harmayani MSc mengatakan, ganyong merupakan salah satu bahan pangan nonberas bergizi cukup tinggi. Terutama karena kandungan kalsium, fosfor, dan karbohidratnya.&lt;br /&gt;Di antara komoditas ubi-ubian, ganyong memang belum sepopuler seperti ubi jalar atau ubi kayu. Padahal, ubi ganyong dapat diproduksi menjadi makanan yang bervariasi dan lebih mudah dikonsumsi. ‘’Tentunya setelah diubah menjadi tepung. Menariknya, meski sudah menjadi tepung kandungan gizinya tidak berubah. Manfaat akan optimal jika dicampur dengan tempe atau ikan. “Ini alternatif saja bagi biskuit bayi dengan memanfaatkan makanan lokal,” tambahnya.&lt;br /&gt;Menurut Eni, dalam ubi ganyong terdapat kandungan kalsium dan fosfor yang lebih banyak apabila dibandingkan pada ubi jalar, padi, jagung, dan kentang. Sehingga, ganyong sangat baik untuk pertumbuhan tulang dan gigi balita.&lt;br /&gt;‘’Untuk bayi yang belum memiliki tulang yang kuat dan gigi, perlu mengonsumsi makanan yang banyak mengandung fosfor dan kalsium. Salah satu makanan yang mengandung fosfor dan kalsium dalam jumlah banyak, ya ganyong ini,” ungkapnya.&lt;br /&gt;Berdasarkan data Direktorat Gizi Depkes, kandungan gizi ganyong tiap 100 gram terdiri atas kalori 95,00 kalori, protein 1,00 gram, lemak 0,11 gram, karbohidrat 22,60 gram, kalsium 21,00 gram, fosfor 70,00 gram, zat besi 1,90 mg, vitamin B1 0,10 mg, vitamin C 10,00 mg, dan air 75,00 gram. &lt;br /&gt;Menurut Eny, pemanfatan ganyong sebenarnya merupakan hasil penelitian tentang sumber pangan lokal di Gunungkidul. Ini karena di daerah tersebut ganyong banyak untuk bahan minuman cendol. “Di Gunugkidul banyak ditemukan ganyong, terutama di daerah tanah marginal. Namun masih dimanfaatkan untuk minuman cendol,” imbuhnya.&lt;br /&gt;Untuk mengembangkan inovasi ubi gayong sebagai alternatif pangan, PSPG sedang menjalin kerja sama dengan LIPI. ‘’Kami tengah meneruskan penelitian ubi ganyong sebagai bahan biskuit balita Insdonesia pada masa datang,” ujarnya.&lt;br /&gt;Staf pengajar di Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian UGM ini berharap ganyong bisa menjadi makanan alternatif bagi balita. Eny mengaku prihatin dengan kasus gizi buruk yang mencuat di berbagai daerah akhir-akhir ini. Menurutnya, penyebab gizi buruk pada balita disebabkan masih rendahnya tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat tentang gizi dan sumber pangan.&lt;br /&gt;‘’Kasus gizi buruk disebabkan pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap gizi yang sangat rendah akibat akses pendidikan yang rendah. Selain itu, kondisi taraf hidup yang memprihatinkan menyebabkan kemampuan daya beli mereka juga menurun. Acara yang digelar pada 18 dan 25 April ini mengundang seluruh siswa-siswi SMA/MA maupun yang sederajat baik negeri maupun swasta se-DIJ. Rangkaian acara di antaranya berupa lomba debat bahasa Inggris dan pidato tiga bahasa (Inggris, Arab, dan Indonesia).&lt;br /&gt;Lomba-lomba tersebut akan digelar di Kampus Madrasah Mu’allimin Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Jalan Letjen S. Meeting this goal will help you stay within the Food Guide Pyramid guidelines of eating 3-5 servings of vegetables and 2-4 servings of fruit. But how do you get kids to eat more fruits and vegetables, especially when they may only want to eat chicken nuggets and french fries and you are not supposed to force kids to ‘clean their plate’ or make meals a power struggle?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt; &lt;br /&gt;It can help to start early, offering your toddler lots of different types of foods and letting them see you eat and enjoy a variety of foods, especially fruits and vegetables. Although infants often get a lot of fruit and vegetable baby foods, once they start eating table food, what you eat is going to be a big influence on what your kids like to eat. If you rarely serve vegetables with meals or eat fruit, don’t be surprised if your kids develop the same tastes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;According to one study1, ‘children’s food preferences and food-intake patterns may be shaped largely by the foods parents choose to make available to children and persistence in presenting a food that initially is rejected.’&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So offer your toddler and preschool age child a lot of different foods, even if he is neophobic, or quick to reject new foods, as it can help him learn to like a variety of foods. Remember that ‘if children have repeated opportunities to sample new foods, then at least some of them will be accepted.’ That may mean that you have to offer a small tablespoon size portion of green beans 10-15 times before your child will even try it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The above study also found that ‘picky eaters were breastfed for fewer than 6 months,’ so breastfeeding for longer than 6 months may have the additional benefit of preventing kids from being picky eaters.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What if you didn’t teach your toddler to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Is it too late?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Probably. Another report2 has shown that the ‘number of foods kids like does not change much from the age of two or three to age eight’ and that ‘new foods are often more likely accepted at age two to four than at four to eight.’&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That doesn’t mean that it is too late to get your older kids to eat more fruits and vegetables, but rather that they won’t do it on their own and that you are going to have to work at it.&lt;br /&gt;5 A Day for Kids&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One trick that often works for both fruits and vegetables is to find foods that your kids already like to eat, like smoothies, muffins, yogurt, etc., and find recipes that allow you to add fruits or vegetables to them, like banana or zucchini muffins.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The easiest way to get some fruit into your child is to switch from soda and fruit drinks to 100% fruit juice. Although eating whole fruit is better because it also has fiber, 4-6 oz of 100% fruit juice for children 1-6 years old and 8-12 ounces for older children is an easy way to ‘eat’ 1-2 servings of fruit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Remember that fruit snacks, even those made with ‘real’ fruit, fruit drinks and other snacks with artificial fruit don’t count as a serving of fruit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Other helpful tips might be to:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;    * let your kids pick the fruits they want to eat when you go shopping&lt;br /&gt;    * mix fruit pieces in with yogurt or serve them with a dip&lt;br /&gt;    * make fruit smoothies&lt;br /&gt;    * offer a fruit salad, with a mix of watermelon, grapes, strawberries, etc. as a dessert or snack&lt;br /&gt;    * make a snack mix with raisins, nuts and cereal&lt;br /&gt;    * add chopped fruit, especially berries and bananas, to your child’s cereal&lt;br /&gt;    * try dried fruits&lt;br /&gt;    * mix in some chopped fruit with jell-o&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fruit isn’t usually the big problem though. Getting kids to eat their veggies is usually the bigger challenge.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Creative ways to get your kids to eat more vegetables can include camouflaging them in with other foods, like chopping up and mixing vegetables in with pasta sauces, lasagna, casseroles, soup, chili, omelets, etc. or adding veggie toppings to pizza. You can even find recipes for things like banana raisin pancakes, carrot beef meatballs or zucchini cookies, that your kids might enjoy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It might also help to:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;    * offer chopped veggies with a dip, like ranch dressing&lt;br /&gt;    * serve vegetables as a stir-fry&lt;br /&gt;    * let your child help prepare the meal&lt;br /&gt;    * start a vegetable garden at home so your kids can eat the vegetables they grow or visit a farm or farmer’s market.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What about popcorn? Although often thought of as a grain, it is really just popped corn, which is a vegetable, right? Maybe. But popcorn is usually thought of as a starch or gain and doesn’t count as a serving of vegetables.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Getting kids to eat well, and especially eat fruits and vegetables is a challenge for many parents. To help prevent your child from becoming a picky eater, you should:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;    * start early by offering a large variety of foods to your toddler&lt;br /&gt;    * make mealtimes fun and don’t try to force your kids to eat things they don’t want&lt;br /&gt;    * look for creative ways to offer your kids fruits and vegetables&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If all else fails, consider offering a multi-vitamin and talk to your Pediatrician.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It can also help to learn about the serving sizes of fruits and vegetables so that your expectations aren’t too high. For toddlers, a serving of vegetables may be as small as a tablespoon per year of age and a 1/2 piece of fresh fruit. (Children don't love turnips and brussels sprouts.) Here are a few strategies that have worked well for my family:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt; &lt;br /&gt;1. Expand your fruit and vegetable repertoire. Look beyond peas and carrots and offer a variety of tasty fruits and vegetables such as kiwi, mango, papaya, pea pods, jicama and mashed sweet potatoes. There are so many to choose from that you're sure to find some they like.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Get cooking. Look for new ways to prepare and serve vegetables. Stir-fry green beans with a pinch of oregano; steam frozen mixed vegetables and add a dash of soy sauce; lightly boil broccoli in chicken broth and sprinkle with lemon pepper. If your child likes ketchup, offer ketchup as a dip for broccoli. And what child could resist crunchy baby carrots served chilled and with a yogurt dill dip?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Pique their interest. Let them plan and grow their own vegetable garden, pick their own apples or pears in an orchard, or investigate the origin of different fruits and vegetables at the library or on the Internet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Be a good role model. If you eat vegetables, so will your children.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. Let the kids give you a hand. Get your children involved in the food preparation, and chances are they will be interested in eating what they cook. Have them peel bananas, shuck corn, or scoop watermelon into balls. Here are a few quick recipes you can make with your kids:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;TROPICAL FRUIT SALAD&lt;br /&gt;Ingredients&lt;br /&gt;2 cups seedless red grapes&lt;br /&gt;1 cup cubed, peeled papaya&lt;br /&gt;1 cup sliced carambola (star fruit)&lt;br /&gt;3 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced&lt;br /&gt;3 tbsp. lime juice&lt;br /&gt;2 tbsp. honey&lt;br /&gt;1 cup sliced banana&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Directions&lt;br /&gt;Combine grapes, papaya, carambola and kiwi in a bowl; toss gently. Combine lime juice and honey in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk until blended. Pour over fruit; toss gently to coat. Cover and chill. Just before serving, add banana; toss gently. Makes 6 to 8 servings.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;CORN SALAD&lt;br /&gt;Ingredients&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 16-ounce can black beans, drained&lt;br /&gt;1 10-ounce can corn kernels, drained&lt;br /&gt;1/2 green pepper, chopped&lt;br /&gt;1/2 red pepper, chopped&lt;br /&gt;2 green onions, chopped&lt;br /&gt;1 tbsp. corn oil&lt;br /&gt;2 tbsp. lime juice&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Directions&lt;br /&gt;Toss together all ingredients. Cover and refrigerate.
